1. NC TRIANGLE APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM - NCTAP - LRHS Presentations on 11/23/2021 (10:30am-11:00am). 
Congresswoman Deborah Ross interviewed two of the NCTAP apprentices as part of National Apprenticeship Week. The two apprentices are working for Siemens. They are Madelyn Clark and Ethan Hatch. They both did an excellent job in the interview.

EARN MONEY WHILE YOU LEARN. NCTAP is an apprenticeship program designed to develop experts needed in the modern workforce. The program, based in North Carolina’s Triangle area, focuses on integrated basic training which develops technical, methodological, and social skills. The core training program utilizes a hands-on approach to develop skills across a wide range of disciplines. Starting in the 11th grade of high school, this four-year program is divided into modules, with classes leading to an Associate Degree (AAS) in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Automotive Systems Technology at Wake Tech Community College AND paid, on-the-job training at participating Triangle employers.

NCTAP Selection Process

Candidates must complete each of the seven phases in succession. See the timetable below:

Phase One – attend a presentation on NCTAP at your school in the fall of your junior or senior year of high school:

Phase Four – if selected for the Pre-Apprenticeship, gain admission to area community colleges participating in NCTAP
Phase Five – if selected, attend a six-week, paid summer Pre-Apprenticeship
Phase Six – offer of full NCTAP apprenticeship to the best candidates, starting in your senior year of high school (outstanding recent graduates may also be considered)
Phase Seven – successful completion of four-year NCTAP apprenticeship and start of your career.


2. WAKE WORKS 
Apprenticeship is a combination of working and learning that benefits both the apprentice and the employer. WakeWorks apprentices receive a paycheck plus on-the-job training at a local employer – all while pursuing a degree or professional credential through Wake Tech. Apprentices are awarded an official Journeyworker’s certificate upon completion of the apprenticeship, signifying that they have mastered the skills in their field. Thanks to funding provided by Wake County, most expenses for WakeWorks apprentices are covered.

Career Areas include:  Apartment Maintenance, Automotive, Carpenter, Electrical Contractor, EMT/Paramedic, HVAC Technician, Licenced Plumber, & Tower Technician

3. IBM NEW COLLAR 
Apprenticeships at IBM are all about picking up new skills – and lots of them. The IBM Apprenticeship program gives an opportunity for candidates without advanced degrees to build new technical skills while getting paid. 4. UNC Health Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program
The new Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program involves 144 hours of online learning, plus over 2,000 hours of on-the-job training. Participants will be paid for time while training/working in one of our outpatient clinics.

MAAP will interview, hire and train applicants, with or without prior healthcare experience, to progress through the program.

MA apprentices will be assigned Mentor(s)/Care Partner Champions and a Nurse Educator to guide them through the MAAP.
